Safety information

Please read this before your first session, and keep the instruction leaflet that came with the device.

Speak to a professional first if you

• have diabetes of any type
• have reduced circulation, or reduced sensation in your feet
• have a suppressed immune system, or are having chemotherapy
• are pregnant or breastfeeding
• are taking any medication that increases light sensitivity (some antibiotics, retinoids and others — check with your pharmacist)
• have lupus, porphyria or another photosensitive condition
• have a history of skin cancer on the hands or feet

None of these are automatic reasons not to use it. They are reasons to get proper advice first, because foot problems in these groups can become serious quickly and need looking at.

Don't start a home routine — see a GP or podiatrist — if

• the nail or surrounding skin is painful, red, hot or swollen
• there is any discharge or bleeding
• the nail has been injured or is coming away
• you have an open wound or ulcer anywhere on the foot
• you have never had the nail looked at and don't know what's causing the change

That last one matters more than people think. Thickened, discoloured nails can be caused by fungal infection, psoriasis, injury, and other conditions that look alike and are managed differently. A diagnosis is worth having before you commit to a long routine.

Using it safely

• One 7-minute session per nail, once a day. More is not better.
• Don't look directly into the light, and don't point it at anyone's eyes.
• Use it on nails only, not on broken skin.
• Keep it dry — it is not waterproof. Don't use it in the bath or shower.
• Charge it with a standard 5V USB plug. Don't use a damaged cable.
• Keep it away from children and pets. It is not a toy.
• Don't dismantle or modify it.

Stop using it if

You get pain, burning, redness, blistering, swelling or any skin reaction. Stop, and speak to a pharmacist, GP or podiatrist. Email us and we'll refund you regardless of how long you've had it.

Disposal

The device contains a rechargeable battery and electronic components. Don't put it in household waste. Take it to a local recycling centre that accepts small electrical items (WEEE).
